The role

Natural Resources Wales’ has an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about conservation to join South East Land Management team as a Biodiversity Restoration Officer — a dynamic group driving biodiversity restoration across the Welsh Government Woodland Estate (WGWE). and National Nature Reserves (NNR)

As an Biodiversity Restoration Officer, you’ll play a central role in planning and delivering practical conservation work. You’ll develop detailed specifications, oversee contractors, and ensure high-quality delivery of restoration projects — with a focus on strategic SSSI and Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland (ASNW) sites under the Nature Networks programme.

As well as delivering Nature Networks program your responsibilities will include leading the planning, implementation, and management of forest and conservation projects; making technical decisions to support biodiversity and conservation outcomes and ensure statutory compliance; managing contracts, monitoring progress, and contributing to international reporting mechanisms; upholding legal responsibilities for site assets and ensuring robust governance across all activities; and adhering to NRW’s procurement, wellbeing, and health & safety standards

This is a varied role that includes fieldwork and office-based tasks. You’ll spend time outdoors — sometimes in challenging conditions — as well as contributing to planning, reporting, and project coordination from the office.

If you’re motivated by meaningful environmental work and want to be part of a team restoring nature at scale, we’d love to hear from you.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

Interviews will take place through Microsoft Teams the week commencing the 8th December 2025.
