The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care is looking to appoint a Chair to the NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA). The NHSCFA is a Special Health Authority charged with identifying, investigating and preventing fraud and other economic crime within the NHS in England.

As Chair of the Authority, you will lead the Board of Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) and Executive Directors (EDs). The Chair will hold the Chief Executive, Finance Director, and Performance & Improvement Director to account and will share corporate responsibility for the decisions of the NHSCFA Board and the performance of the organisation. Along with the NEDs, the Chair will contribute to the development of strategy, stakeholder engagement and annual objectives. The successful candidate will also ensure sound governance, including robust and effective systems of financial control and risk management, are in place.

As Chair you will have a strong career track record of significant delivery and leadership at a senior level within the private, public or voluntary sectors. You will have the ability to lead the board of a national public body, delivering robust governance and accountability, and developing executive and board performance. You will have sound judgement, with an ability to critically analyse a wide range of information and make evidence-based, strategic decisions. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with others to drive improvements in your organisation and in the wider, complex landscape within which it operates.

Remuneration will be £14,450 per annum for a time commitment of 2-3 days per month. The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care determines the length of appointment, which may be for up to a maximum of 3 years.
