Employer ProfileThe Secretary of State for Health and Social Care is looking to appoint up to three members to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB). The NHSPRB provides advice to governments on annual pay uplifts for over 1.4 million NHS staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
As a member of the NHS Pay Review Body you will be responsible for providing evidence-based recommendations to governments on a contested and complex policy area.
To be considered for the role you must have a strong track record of significant delivery at a senior level with strategic decision-making responsibility.
You will have an understanding of the role of pay and reward in motivation, recruitment, and retention amongst a professional workforce. You will be able to analyse and critically evaluate complex information, including data and evidence from a range of sources, and exercise sound independent judgement to objectively reach balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
You will also have strong collaboration and communication skills and be able to work with fellow Members of the Pay Review Body and stakeholders by using your experience and expertise to make a valuable contribution.
In addition, we would welcome senior level experience in one or more of the following areas although these are not essential:
- Staff representation/Trade Union experience or background
- The health service or wider public sector in Northern Ireland or Wales
- Economics, potentially with a focus on the labour market
Remuneration will be £450 per day for the preparation and attendance at meetings and visits, for a time commitment of approximately 20 days per year. The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care determine the length of appointment, which may be for up to a maximum of 3 years.
