Group Chief Financial Officer
St George’s, Epsom and St Helier
Employer Profile
St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group is one of the largest and most complex healthcare providers in the NHS, serving diverse communities across South West London. We are now seeking an exceptional, forward thinking Group Chief Financial Officer to help shape the next chapter of our Group’s development.
A Strategic System Leader
As our new CFO, you will be a central architect of Group strategy—working closely with the Group Chief Executive, Chair, Board and senior leaders to ensure our financial approach underpins sustainable, high quality care for the populations we serve. This is a role for a leader who can see the bigger picture, anticipate the long term needs of the health system, and translate strategic ambition into robust financial planning.
You will bring the insight and courage to guide the Group through a period of significant change, from major service transformation to the evolution of our Group model. You will act as a key adviser to the Board, providing clarity and confidence in complex, high stakes decisions while ensuring resources are aligned to clinical priorities and patient outcomes.
A Relationship Builder Across Organisational Boundaries
Success in this role will depend not only on technical financial expertise, but on your ability to build trust, influence at scale and cultivate strong, productive relationships across the wider system.
You will represent the Group across South West London and beyond—working closely with partners in NHS England, local authorities, voluntary and community sectors, and other providers to secure financial sustainability and collective value. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening partnerships that reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for patients, service users and local communities, as well as leveraging the breadth and scale of our NHS provision to drive and develop new commercial partnerships.
Internally, you will lead a high performing, inclusive finance function, empowering teams and supporting leaders across the organisation to make informed, evidence based decisions. You will be a visible and values driven executive who models compassionate leadership and fosters a culture where people can thrive.
About You
We are looking for a strategic, outward facing finance leader with a track record of operating at or near Board level in a complex environment—ideally within the NHS or a similarly large, regulated system. You will bring a strong grasp of financial strategy, planning and governance, alongside exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
Most importantly, you will be motivated by public value and inspired by the opportunity to help shape a more integrated, equitable and sustainable health and care system.
Join Us
This is an outstanding opportunity to make a system wide impact, contributing to the future of one of the country’s most significant health groups. If you share our values and are excited by the scale and purpose of this role, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to fostering an inclusive leadership culture that reflects our communities.
